Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lubricants Specialist Chemist to join our dedicated team in the automotive sector. This is a stable role focused on the research, development, and quality assurance of cutting-edge automotive lubricants. The successful candidate will be instrumental in formulating new products, improving existing ones, and ensuring that our lubricants meet the highest industry standards and performance requirements. You will work within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and sales professionals to bring innovative solutions to the market. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the formulation and development of new automotive lubricants, including engine oils, transmission fluids, and greases.
- Conduct comprehensive laboratory testing and performance evaluations of lubricant formulations to ensure compliance with industry specifications (e.g., API, ACEA, JASO) and OEM requirements.
- Analyze test data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical support for manufacturing processes, troubleshooting issues related to product quality and performance.
- Collaborate with raw material suppliers to evaluate and qualify new base oils and additives.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, market trends, and regulatory changes in the automotive lubricants industry.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for existing product lines.
- Ensure all laboratory activities adhere to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in lubricants formulation, research, or product development, specifically within the automotive sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in the chemistry and performance characteristics of base oils and lubricant additives.
- Proficiency in various analytical techniques and instruments used in lubricant testing (e.g., GC, FTIR, DSC, rheology).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced R&D environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- In-depth knowledge of internal combustion engine operation and lubrication mechanisms.
- Experience with statistical data analysis and experimental design (DOE).
- Familiarity with intellectual property processes related to chemical formulations.
- Proven track record of successful product launches or significant formulation improvements.
