Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lowboy Trailer Driver to join our dynamic team. As a Lowboy Trailer Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of heavy construction equipment to and from job sites across Arkansas and surrounding regions. This critical role requires a deep understanding of load securement, route planning, and adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a lowboy trailer to transport heavy construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and cranes.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Load and unload heavy equipment using ramps, winches, and other specialized tools, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Secure loads properly using chains, binders, and straps to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
  • Plan and execute optimal routes, considering road restrictions, weight limits, and bridge clearances.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, daily vehicle inspection reports, and all required DOT documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, project managers, and site personnel regarding delivery schedules and site conditions.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Perform minor maintenance or repairs as needed on equipment and report any major issues promptly.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A)
  • Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience operating lowboy trailers and transporting heavy equipment.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Thorough knowledge of DOT regulations, including hours of service and load securement.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy machinery during loading/unloading.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with over-dimensional and overweight load permits and procedures.
  • HAZMAT endorsement (not required, but a plus).
  • Familiarity with construction sites and equipment types.
  • Certification in crane signaling and rigging.
