Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Process Development Chemist to join our dynamic R&D and Manufacturing team in New Port Richey, FL. This critical role involves bridging the gap between laboratory-scale chemical processes and full-scale manufacturing. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing existing processes, developing new process methodologies, and ensuring seamless scale-up from pilot to commercial production, all while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes from laboratory to pilot plant scale, and ultimately to full commercial production.
  • Conduct experimental work to understand reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and mass transfer phenomena.
  • Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve yield, purity, and cycle time.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure robust and scalable processes.
  • Develop and implement analytical methods for in-process control and final product testing.
  • Prepare detailed process documentation, including batch records, operating procedures, and technical reports.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, environmental policies, and quality management systems (e.g., GMP, ISO).
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and equipment to enhance process efficiency and capability.
  • Provide technical support and training to manufacturing personnel during scale-up and routine production.

Required Skills

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry.
  • Proven experience in chemical process development and scale-up from lab to manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, NMR, FTIR, MS, calorimetry).
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with process safety principles and hazard analysis (e.g., HAZOP).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of cGMP environments and regulatory requirements for chemical manufacturing.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
  • Experience in specialty chemicals or materials science industry.
