Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Offending Team Assistant to join our dynamic team in Leicester. This rewarding role involves providing essential administrative and practical support to the Youth Offending Team (YOT), enabling them to deliver effective interventions and support services to young people who have offended or are at risk of offending. You will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of our services, contributing directly to positive outcomes for young people and the community. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Youth Offending Team, including managing diaries, scheduling appointments, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Assist with the preparation of reports, assessments, and court documents, ensuring all information is accurate and submitted within deadlines.
  • Liaise with young people, their families, and other professionals (e.g., social workers, police, schools) in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Support the delivery of group work programmes and individual interventions under the guidance of YOT Officers.
  • Manage and update case files and databases, ensuring confidentiality and data protection compliance.
  • Assist in arranging transportation and facilitating attendance for young people to appointments, court hearings, or educational activities.
  • Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of YOT services, collecting feedback and data as required.
  • Respond to enquiries, providing information and signposting to relevant services.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Required Skills

  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by young people at risk.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally within a youth, social care, or criminal justice setting.
  • Knowledge of the Youth Justice System and relevant legislation.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse communities.
