Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Downstream Financial Analyst with a strong finance degree background to join our dynamic team in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This entry-level role is perfect for a recent graduate eager to apply their financial knowledge in a real-world energy utility context. You will play a crucial role in supporting the financial planning, analysis, and reporting for our downstream operations, contributing to critical business decisions and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans for downstream assets and operations.
- Conduct variance analysis and provide insightful commentary on financial performance against budget and prior periods.
- Support the development and maintenance of financial models used for investment analysis, project evaluation, and strategic planning.
- Compile and analyze financial data from various sources to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for management review.
- Collaborate with various business units to gather financial information and ensure data accuracy.
- Participate in ad-hoc financial projects and initiatives as required.
- Learn and utilize company-specific financial software and systems.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial functions).
- Solid understanding of financial principles, accounting concepts, and financial statements.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant internship experience in finance or accounting.
- Familiarity with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) software (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials).
- Knowledge of the energy or utility industry.
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
