Job Description
Join Airgas, an Air Liquide company, as an Industrial Gas Driver with a specialized focus on cryogenic operations. This critical role involves the safe and efficient transportation of liquid industrial gases (such as Oxygen, Nitrogen, Argon, and CO2) to customers throughout the Charleston, SC region and surrounding areas. As a Cryogenic Driver, you will be responsible for operating tractor-trailer combinations, performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections, documenting all deliveries, and ensuring compliance with all DOT regulations and company safety standards. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer to transport cryogenic industrial gases to various customer sites.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Load and unload cryogenic products, ensuring proper handling and securing of cargo.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including manifests, delivery tickets, and logbooks, in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Maintain strict adherence to all federal, state, and local driving regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service during deliveries, interacting professionally and courteously with clients.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Handle unexpected situations or emergencies with professionalism and according to established protocols.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A)
- Hazmat (H) endorsement
- Tanker (N) endorsement
- Clean driving record (MVR) for the past 3 years
- Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience, preferably with bulk liquids or gases
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols for hazardous materials transportation
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience driving cryogenic bulk liquid trailers
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Forklift certification or experience operating other material handling equipment
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
