Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Plan and execute routes for timely pickup and delivery of freight, adhering to all local, state, and federal traffic laws.
- Perform comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs and all required documentation, including bills of lading and proof of delivery.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with dispatch, customers, and other stakeholders regarding load status, potential delays, and any issues encountered.
- Represent XPO Logistics professionally while on the road and during interactions with customers and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of verifiable commercial driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no history of serious traffic violations or preventable accidents
- Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and physical examination
- Strong commitment to safety and full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
- Proven ability to work independently and manage one's own business operations effectively
- A professional demeanor and strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- Ownership of a well-maintained, reliable tractor (truck) for dedicated service to XPO Logistics
- Experience with various types of freight and hauling environments (e.g., dry van, refrigerated, flatbed)
- Familiarity and proficiency with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems (TMS)
- Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of independent contractor operations, including expense management
