Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Mobile Vaccination Nurse to join our vital community outreach team. This pivotal role involves delivering essential vaccination services directly to underserved communities and various public settings within Gary, Indiana, and its surrounding areas. The ideal candidate will be passionate about public health, possess excellent clinical skills, and be adept at communicating effectively with diverse populations. This position requires independent travel within the local community to administer vaccines, educate the public on vaccine benefits, and ensure all proper documentation and safety protocols are rigorously followed. You will play a crucial role in preventing disease and promoting wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer vaccines to individuals of all ages in various community settings, adhering strictly to established protocols, aseptic techniques, and safety guidelines.
- Conduct thorough pre-screening assessments to determine vaccination eligibility and meticulously monitor patients post-vaccination for any adverse reactions.
- Educate patients, their families, and community members comprehensively about the importance of vaccination, potential side effects, and necessary follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and thorough documentation of all vaccinations administered, patient information, and vaccine inventory.
- Collaborate effectively with community partners, local organizations, and public health officials to identify target populations and strategically organize outreach events.
- Ensure the proper handling, storage, and disposal of vaccines and all related medical supplies in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, patient confidentiality standards, and professional nursing ethics.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Indiana.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proven proficiency in vaccine administration techniques across different age groups.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and patient education skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively as part of a mobile team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in community health, public health nursing, or mobile clinic settings.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is highly desirable to better serve our diverse communities.
- Familiarity and experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
