Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Hydrographic Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Wolverhampton. This pivotal role involves conducting comprehensive hydrographic surveys for a variety of projects, including coastal development, marine construction, offshore renewable energy, and environmental assessments. The successful candidate will be instrumental in collecting, processing, and interpreting marine geo-data, ensuring accuracy and adherence to industry standards. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute hydrographic surveys using various survey instruments and software (MBES, SSS, Mag, Lidar, GNSS).
- Operate and maintain survey equipment, ensuring calibration and data quality.
- Process and interpret hydrographic data, producing charts, maps, and reports.
- Conduct quality control checks on collected data and final products.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior staff where applicable.
- Prepare and present project documentation and findings.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in hydrographic surveying.
- Proficiency with hydrographic software (e.g., QPS QINSy, Hypack, Caris HIPS/SIPS).
- Strong understanding of survey principles, geodesy, and positioning systems.
- Ability to interpret bathymetric and geophysical data.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a field environment and on vessels.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Hydrography, Geomatics, Oceanography, or a related field.
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cat A/B Hydrographic Surveyor).
- Experience with offshore survey operations and vessel mobilization.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).
- Project management experience.
