Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and skilled HGV Class 2 Driver to join our dynamic team in Cheltenham. This is an excellent opportunity for a professional driver to become a vital part of our distribution network, ensuring the safe and timely delivery of goods to our valued customers. You will be responsible for operating a Class 2 vehicle, adhering to all road safety regulations, and maintaining high standards of customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle for local and regional deliveries.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.
  • Ensure all deliveries are made efficiently and on schedule.
  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including delivery notes and tachograph records.
  • Adhere strictly to all driving hours regulations and road safety laws.
  • Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and collections.
  • Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring proper securing of loads.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • Represent Wincanton in a professional manner at all times.

Required Skills

  • Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
  • Valid Driver Qualification Card (DQC) / CPC.
  • Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
  • A maximum of 6 penalty points on your licence (for minor offences only).
  • No previous disqualifications (DD, DR, IN endorsements).
  • Excellent knowledge of driving regulations and tachograph rules.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with multi-drop deliveries.
  • Experience operating various types of loading equipment (e.g., tail lifts, pump trucks).
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle fault reporting.
