Job Description

Pasco-Hernando State College is seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Harp Instructor to join our Performing Arts department. This niche role offers a unique opportunity to shape aspiring harpists, from beginner to advanced levels, in a supportive and engaging academic environment. We are looking for an instructor who can provide exceptional one-on-one and group instruction, developing comprehensive curricula that cover technique, music theory, performance practice, and repertoire specific to the harp. The ideal candidate will have a strong performance background, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for teaching. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert one-on-one and group instruction in harp performance and technique.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans and curricula tailored to student levels and goals.
  • Teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and historical context relevant to harp repertoire.
  • Prepare students for recitals, auditions, and other performance opportunities.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a professional and inspiring learning environment.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and college-wide arts events as required.
  • Recruit and retain students for the harp program.
  • Ensure the proper care and maintenance of college-owned harps and practice facilities.

  • Proficiency in harp performance and technique across various genres.
  • Strong understanding of music theory and harmony.
  • Excellent pedagogical skills and experience teaching students of diverse ages and skill levels.
  • Ability to develop and adapt curriculum.

  • Demonstrated performance experience as a harpist.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with various harp types (pedal harp, lever harp) and their respective repertoire.
