Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Services Assistant to join our vital support team within Swansea Bay University Health Board. This entry-level position plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient environment for patients, visitors, and staff across our facilities. You will perform a variety of duties essential to the smooth running of our services, contributing directly to patient comfort and operational effectiveness. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in patient and non-patient areas, including wards, offices, and public spaces, ensuring high standards of hygiene and infection control.
- Handle and transport waste according to health and safety regulations, including clinical and domestic waste.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of meals and beverages to patients, ensuring dietary requirements are met and maintaining a high level of food hygiene.
- Replenish supplies in designated areas, such as linen, stationery, and cleaning materials.
- Move equipment and furniture as required, following manual handling guidelines.
- Provide basic assistance to patients, such as orienting them to their surroundings or assisting with mobility, under supervision.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all Trust policies and procedures, including those relating to health and safety, patient care, and data protection.
- Report any faults, breakages, or health and safety hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
- Engage positively with patients, visitors, and staff, contributing to a welcoming and supportive environment.
