Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable General Services Assistant to join our team within the NHS framework, specifically located in Clifton, Bristol. This vital role supports the smooth operation of our healthcare facilities, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties essential to the day-to-day running of our services, contributing directly to patient comfort and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general cleaning duties in patient areas, offices, and public spaces to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness.
  • Assist with the distribution of linen, medical supplies, and equipment throughout various departments.
  • Handle and dispose of waste safely and according to established protocols, including clinical waste.
  • Transport patients, specimens, notes, and equipment between departments as required, ensuring safe and respectful handling.
  • Support catering services by delivering meals and beverages to patients, and clearing away trays promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including COSHH guidelines, and report any potential hazards.
  • Report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or concerns promptly to the appropriate supervisor or department.
  • Maintain a professional, respectful, and compassionate approach when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Assist in maintaining stock levels and receiving deliveries of supplies, ensuring proper storage and rotation.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and busy team.
  • Good verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously.
  • Basic understanding of hygiene and cleanliness standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a customer service, hospitality, or public service environment.
  • Basic knowledge of health and safety procedures in a workplace setting.
  • Manual handling training (training will be provided if not held).
