Job Description
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an aspiring or experienced Gemologist/Diamond Grader to join our dedicated team in Weston-super-Mare, UK. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately grade and certify diamonds according to stringent industry standards, including the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, Carat Weight).
- Identify, evaluate, and authenticate various gemstones, assessing their quality, origin, and potential treatments.
- Maintain meticulous and comprehensive records of all evaluations, grading reports, and certifications.
- Collaborate effectively with our sales and purchasing teams to ensure the consistent quality and integrity of our product offerings.
- Proficiently operate and maintain a range of gemological equipment and instruments, including microscopes, refractometers, and polariscopes.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in gemological science, market trends, and industry best practices.
- Provide expert advice and insights on product specifications, helping to educate both colleagues and customers.
- Adhere strictly to ethical practices and industry regulations in all aspects of gemological assessment.
Required Skills
- GIA Graduate Gemologist (GG) diploma or an equivalent internationally recognized gemological qualification.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using standard gemological tools and equipment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a team.
- Unwavering commitment to ethical standards and integrity within the jewelry industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior professional experience in diamond grading, gemstone identification, or gemological laboratory work.
- In-depth knowledge of various gemstone treatments, enhancements, and synthetic identification techniques.
- Familiarity with international gemological standards and grading systems.
- Fluency in additional languages, which may be beneficial for communicating with a diverse client base and international partners.
