Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finished Products Chemist to join our dynamic team in Evanston, IL. This high-demand role offers the exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the quality and consistency of our chemical products. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting rigorous quality control analysis on finished goods, ensuring they meet stringent specifications and regulatory standards. You will utilize a range of analytical techniques, interpret data, and provide critical support to production teams. This position is vital to maintaining our reputation for excellence and delivering superior products to our customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses on finished products using techniques such as chromatography (GC, HPLC), spectroscopy (IR, UV-Vis), titration, and physical property testing.
- Ensure all testing is conducted in strict accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Accurately record, analyze, and interpret analytical data, preparing detailed reports and certificates of analysis.
- Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) results, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions in collaboration with production and R&D teams.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, troubleshooting minor issues and coordinating with external service providers for major repairs.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods or improve existing ones to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to resolve production issues related to product quality.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality control or analytical laboratory setting, preferably in chemical manufacturing.
- Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting analytical instrumentation (GC, HPLC, IR, UV-Vis).
- Strong understanding of GLP and quality control principles.
- Excellent data analysis, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate and reliable results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
- Experience in method development and validation.
