Job Description
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Junior Designer with a User Interface (UI) focus to join our dynamic design team at FedEx Freight. In this role, you will work closely with senior designers, developers, and product managers to create intuitive and engaging user experiences for our internal and external digital products. This is an excellent opportunity for a budding UI designer to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced corporate environment, contributing to critical tools and applications that streamline freight operations and enhance customer satisfaction. You will assist in translating user requirements into functional and appealing interfaces, ensuring consistency with our brand guidelines and design system.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of user interfaces for web and mobile applications, focusing on usability and visual appeal.
- Collaborate with senior designers to create wireframes, prototypes, and mockups.
- Contribute to maintaining and evolving the existing design system and UI guidelines.
- Participate in user research and usability testing sessions, gathering feedback to inform design iterations.
- Prepare design assets and specifications for development teams, ensuring clear communication and smooth handoffs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest UI trends, tools, and technologies.
- Support the broader design team on various ad-hoc design tasks and projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in design software such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch.
- Basic understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.
- Ability to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A portfolio demonstrating relevant design projects (academic or professional).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, UI/UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Experience with front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Prior internship or professional experience in a design role.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
