Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Distance Learning Coordinator to join our Public Education team. This vital role will focus on developing, implementing, and overseeing effective distance learning programs for students and educators across the borough. As a key advocate for accessible education, you will ensure our virtual learning platforms are robust, engaging, and meet the diverse needs of our community. This position is 100% remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a significant impact from your home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive distance learning strategies and programs for various educational levels.
- Manage and maintain virtual learning environments (VLEs), ensuring optimal functionality and user experience.
- Provide technical support and training to educators, students, and parents on distance learning tools and best practices.
- Curate and develop engaging digital learning content, collaborating with subject matter experts.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of distance learning initiatives, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in online education to ensure our programs remain innovative.
- Ensure all distance learning activities comply with educational standards, data protection regulations, and accessibility guidelines.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between remote learners, educators, and administrative staff.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Moodle, Canvas, Google Classroom, or similar.
- Strong understanding of instructional design principles for online learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to support diverse user groups.
- Proficiency in digital content creation tools and multimedia applications.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a remote environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
- Experience in a public education or non-profit educational setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education, Educational Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in online teaching or instructional design.
- Experience with accessibility standards for digital content (e.g., WCAG).
