Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Digital Music Curator with a strong focus on streaming platforms to join our remote team. In this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the listening experience for millions of users by discovering, selecting, and organizing music for various playlists, stations, and editorial features. The ideal candidate has an encyclopedic knowledge of multiple music genres, a keen ear for emerging trends, and a deep understanding of how music consumption works on digital streaming services. You will work closely with content, data, and product teams to enhance music discovery and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Discover and identify compelling music content across a wide range of genres suitable for Spotify's diverse audience.
- Curate, program, and maintain a variety of editorial playlists, ensuring fresh and engaging content for users.
- Monitor music trends, artist releases, and cultural shifts to inform content strategy and highlight relevant music.
- Analyze performance data to understand user engagement with curated content and optimize future selections.
- Collaborate with marketing, editorial, and artist & label relations teams to support new releases and promotional campaigns.
- Provide expert insights on music genres, artists, and market trends to internal stakeholders.
- Ensure all curated content adheres to Spotify's quality standards and content guidelines.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in music curation, programming, or editorial roles, preferably within a digital streaming service or music-related media company.
- Deep, diverse knowledge of music across multiple genres and cultures.
- Proven ability to identify emerging artists, trends, and culturally significant music.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable content strategies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with digital music platforms and content management systems.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Business, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience with music metadata management and best practices.
- Familiarity with A/B testing and user research principles related to content consumption.
- Multilingual abilities, especially in languages relevant to global music markets.
