Job Description

As a Demography & Population Studies Intern at Deloitte Canada, you will contribute to critical research and analytical projects focused on demographic trends, population dynamics, and their societal impacts. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in collecting, cleaning, and organizing large demographic datasets from various sources.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of population trends, migration patterns, birth rates, mortality rates, and age structures.
  • Support the development of demographic projections and forecasts.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and data visualizations to communicate research findings effectively.
  • Contribute to literature reviews and background research on relevant demographic theories and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with project teams on client engagements, providing demographic insights.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of all data and analyses.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Demography, Sociology, Geography, Public Policy, Statistics, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Excel, R, Python, SPSS, Stata).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience with statistical modeling or econometric techniques.
  • Prior experience with demographic data sources (e.g., Census data, vital statistics).
  • Demonstrated interest in public policy, urban development, or social research.
