Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly knowledgeable Data Privacy Officer to join our compliance team. This critical role involves overseeing our data privacy program, ensuring full compliance with global data protection regulations, including GDPR and CCPA. The ideal candidate will have a strong legal background in data privacy, a proven track record of implementing privacy frameworks, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Equifax's global data privacy strategy and policies.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data protection laws and regulations across all business units.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and handle data subject access requests (DSARs).
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) for new projects, systems, and services.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on data privacy matters to internal stakeholders, including legal, IT, marketing, and product development teams.
  • Oversee and manage data privacy training and awareness programs for all employees.
  • Monitor changes in data privacy laws and regulations and recommend necessary adjustments to company policies and practices.
  • Manage data breach incidents, including investigation, containment, notification, and remediation.
  • Collaborate with information security teams to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of personal data.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dedicated data privacy role, preferably within a global organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and other major data protection frameworks (e.g., LGPD, PIPEDA, CPRA).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive data privacy programs.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles and practices relevant to data protection.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
  • CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or CIPM certification is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Juris Doctor (JD).
  • Experience working in the financial services or data analytics industry.
  • Proficiency with privacy management software and tools.
  • Experience managing international data transfers and related compliance mechanisms.
