Job Description
Join BrightStar Care as a Companion Care Specialist and become an essential part of our boutique agency, providing compassionate and professional non-medical assistance to clients in their homes. This role is perfect for an empathetic and reliable individual who enjoys building meaningful relationships and is comfortable with daily travel within the Fullerton area and occasionally beyond. You will be responsible for enhancing our clients’ quality of life through companionship, light household tasks, meal preparation, and personal care support, ensuring they maintain independence and dignity in a safe environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide engaging companionship and emotional support to clients.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, including laundry, tidying, and organizing.
- Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
- Safely assist with medication reminders.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social activities.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment for clients.
- Document and report any changes in client condition or concerns to the care coordinator.
- Adhere to all BrightStar Care policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months experience in a caregiving or companion role.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate demeanor.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Basic cooking and cleaning skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and assist with client transfers as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- CNA or HHA certification.
- Experience with clients with cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia, Alzheimer's).
- Familiarity with local community resources in Fullerton and Orange County.
- Proficiency in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese).
