Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Clinical Assistant to join our team for an afternoon roster. This part-time position is ideal for an individual looking for stable hours within a supportive GP surgery environment. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the smooth running of our clinic, assisting healthcare professionals and ensuring an excellent experience for our patients. You will be responsible for a variety of administrative and patient support tasks, primarily during the busy afternoon period, contributing to the efficient delivery of primary care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient reception and registration during afternoon clinics.
- Answer phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately, maintaining a polite and professional demeanor.
- Prepare consultation rooms and ensure they are stocked, tidy, and ready for patient appointments.
- Assist GPs and nurses with non-clinical tasks as required, such as chaperoning or preparing equipment.
- Process prescriptions and referrals accurately and efficiently under the guidance of clinical staff.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information in the electronic medical system (EMR).
- Handle general administrative duties including filing, scanning, and managing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively and calmly in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment.
- Demonstrated discretion and strict adherence to patient confidentiality.
- A compassionate, empathetic, and patient-focused approach to healthcare delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or administrative setting, preferably within a GP surgery.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and primary care systems.
- First Aid certification.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent vocational qualification.
