Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Behavioral Health Music Lead to join our interdisciplinary team in Torrance, CA. This role is crucial in developing and implementing music therapy programs with a strong clinical focus across various behavioral health settings. The successful candidate will lead a team of music therapists, ensuring evidence-based practices are integrated into patient care plans, contributing to positive outcomes for individuals facing mental health challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of clinically-focused music therapy programs for behavioral health patients.
- Lead and mentor a team of board-certified music therapists, providing regular supervision, training, and performance evaluations.
- Conduct initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients to determine appropriate music therapy interventions.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to integrate music therapy into comprehensive treatment plans.
- Ensure adherence to professional ethical standards, clinical guidelines, and all regulatory requirements.
- Manage program resources, including instruments, equipment, and budget, to optimize service delivery.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case conferences, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Educate staff, patients, and families on the benefits and applications of music therapy in behavioral health.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in electronic health records.
Required Skills
- Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) credential.
- Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-certification clinical experience in behavioral health settings.
- Proven leadership experience in a clinical or program management role.
- Strong understanding of various theoretical orientations in psychotherapy and their application in music therapy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health record systems.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Music Therapy or a related field.
- Experience in program development and implementation within a large healthcare system.
- Membership in the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA).
- Experience with research or outcome measurement in music therapy.
