Job Description

Are you passionate about the arts and eager to make a tangible impact on community education? Royal & Derngate is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Arts & Music Education Programming Intern to join our dedicated Creative Learning team. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the development, coordination, and delivery of our diverse education and outreach programs. You will support projects spanning theatre, music, dance, and creative writing, working with schools, young people, and community groups. This role is perfect for someone looking to build a career in arts administration, education, or community engagement, offering invaluable insight into the operational aspects of a leading regional arts venue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and execution of arts and music education workshops, events, and projects.
  • Support the Creative Learning team with administrative tasks, including scheduling, material preparation, and communication with participants and partners.
  • Contribute to the development of engaging educational resources and program content.
  • Help facilitate workshops and events, ensuring a positive and enriching experience for all participants.
  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Research potential new community partners and funding opportunities for educational initiatives.
  • Provide general support to the Creative Learning department as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in arts, music, and education.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Arts Management, Education, Music, Drama, or a related field.
  • Previous experience volunteering or working in an educational or arts setting.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding practices related to working with children and young people.
  • Basic understanding of project management principles.
