Job Description

UCSF Health is seeking highly skilled and dedicated professionals for various Advanced Practice & Specialty Roles to join our dynamic teams. These roles encompass a range of specializations, including Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, among others. Successful candidates will provide expert-level patient care, contribute to interdisciplinary teams, and uphold UCSF Health’s commitment to excellence in clinical practice, education, and research. These positions require a deep understanding of advanced clinical procedures, critical thinking, and a patient-centered approach to care, serving diverse patient populations within a leading academic medical center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive, high-quality patient care within a specialized field, applying advanced clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, diagnose conditions, and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and other therapies as authorized by scope of practice and state regulations.
  • Perform advanced clinical procedures and interventions, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Educate patients and their families on health management, treatment options, and disease prevention strategies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical research, and professional development activities.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant patient records in electronic health systems.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for junior staff, students, and other healthcare team members.

Required Skills

  • Advanced clinical assessment and diagnostic skills, with a strong foundation in medical pathophysiology.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities, fostering strong patient and team relationships.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in complex clinical situations.
  • Ability to work autonomously with appropriate oversight and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Valid state licensure for advanced practice professionals (e.g., NP, PA, CNS, CRNA).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certification in a relevant specialty area (e.g., Adult-Gerontology Acute Care NP, Family NP, Critical Care CNS).
  • Experience in an academic medical center setting or large teaching hospital.
  • Active participation in professional organizations related to advanced practice.
  • Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Cantonese) to better serve our diverse patient population.
