Job Description
Are you an experienced Class A CDL truck driver who loves the open road but hates leaving your best friend behind? Swift Transportation is seeking dedicated and reliable over-the-road (OTR) drivers who want to bring their beloved dogs along for the journey. This is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for driving with the companionship of your pet, all while working for a leading transportation company with competitive pay and excellent benefits. You’ll be responsible for safe and timely delivery of freight across diverse routes.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial tractor-trailer over long distances, adhering to all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring everything is in proper working order.
- Manage and maintain accurate electronic logs (ELDs) of service hours.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding load status, delays, and any issues encountered.
- Secure freight properly to prevent damage during transit.
- Plan routes and meet delivery schedules while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
- Represent Swift Transportation professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable OTR driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major incidents in the last 3-5 years
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including climbing, lifting, and prolonged sitting
Preferred Qualifications
- Hazmat and Tanker endorsements
- Experience with refrigerated freight or specialized hauling
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems (TMS)
