Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable Linen and Laundry Porter to join our friendly team in Taunton. This is a crucial role ensuring the smooth operation of our care home by managing the collection, delivery, and distribution of all linen and laundry items. The ideal candidate will be organised, physically capable, and possess a strong work ethic. This is a routine, Monday-Friday position, offering a stable and predictable schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect soiled linen from designated areas throughout the care home.
  • Transport soiled linen to the laundry room safely and hygienically.
  • Operate laundry machinery (washers, dryers) according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press clean linen, ensuring high standards of hygiene and presentation.
  • Distribute clean linen to resident rooms, common areas, and other required departments.
  • Maintain inventory of linen supplies, reporting shortages or damaged items to management.
  • Ensure the laundry room is kept clean, tidy, and organised at all times.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control policies.
  • Assist with other general portering duties as required.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Good physical fitness for lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to hygiene.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a laundry, hotel, or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of basic laundry equipment operation.
