Job Description
Join FedEx as an HVAC Technician, playing a crucial role in maintaining optimal environmental conditions within our corporate buildings. This position is vital for ensuring the comfort, safety, and productivity of our team members. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. We are looking for a skilled professional who can work independently and as part of a facilities management team, committed to upholding FedEx’s high standards of operational excellence and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on all HVAC systems and associated equipment, including filters, coils, motors, and controls.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in HVAC systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
- Repair or replace defective equipment, components, or wiring, ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely.
- Install new HVAC units and systems, adhering to blueprints, specifications, and safety codes.
- Monitor building automation systems (BAS) to ensure optimal system performance and energy efficiency.
- Respond promptly to service requests and emergency calls related to HVAC system malfunctions.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, repair, and installation work performed.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with other facilities staff and external contractors on larger projects or complex repairs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an HVAC Technician or similar role, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and their functions.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Solid understanding of refrigerant handling, charging, and recovery procedures.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and control systems.
- Valid EPA certification (Type I, II, III, or Universal).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational or technical certification in HVAC or a related field.
- NATE certification (North American Technician Excellence).
- Experience with energy management systems.
- OSHA safety training certification.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
