Job Description
Are you passionate about pets and eager to start a career in pet grooming? PetSmart in Cambridge, MA, is seeking a motivated Pet Grooming Offsider to join our dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual with little to no prior experience, as comprehensive training in dog washing, basic grooming techniques, and animal handling will be provided. As an Offsider, you will play a crucial supporting role to our professional groomers, ensuring a safe, clean, and positive experience for all pets and their parents. Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional groomers with pet preparation, including brushing, de-shedding, and dematting.
- Perform thorough and gentle dog washing, drying, and basic ear cleaning/nail trimming under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grooming salon, including sanitizing tubs, tools, and work areas.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of all pets during their grooming experience.
- Greet pet parents warmly and assist with check-in/check-out procedures.
- Learn and adhere to all PetSmart safety and animal handling protocols.
- Restock supplies and assist with inventory management as needed.
- Observe and learn advanced grooming techniques from experienced groomers.
Required Skills
- Genuine love for animals and comfort working with various dog breeds and sizes.
- Strong desire to learn pet grooming techniques and animal care.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and handle energetic pets.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service role.
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior or pet care (e.g., dog walking, pet sitting).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
