Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Fossil Sorter to join our collections team in Aurora, IL. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with excellent manual dexterity and a keen eye for detail who are comfortable working in a quiet, indoor environment with no phone calls. As a Fossil Sorter, you will play a crucial role in the organization and preservation of our paleontological specimens, ensuring they are properly categorized and stored for future study and display. This is a hands-on role requiring focus and precision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carefully sort and categorize fossil specimens based on established protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain organized storage of specimens within designated collection areas.
  • Accurately document specimen details, including origin, type, and condition, under supervision.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and handling procedures for delicate and fragile materials.
  • Assist with periodic inventory checks and collection audits.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the sorting and storage areas.
  • Work independently with a high degree of focus and attention to detail.
