Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and intellectually curious Think Tank Associate to join our strategic insights team in Santa Rosa, CA. This is a unique opportunity for an individual passionate about driving forward-thinking research and analysis on complex technological, societal, and business challenges. The Think Tank Associate will contribute to high-impact projects, provide data-driven insights, and help shape strategic recommendations for Google’s leadership and broader industry. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on emerging trends, technologies, and policy issues relevant to Google's long-term strategy.
- Develop comprehensive reports, whitepapers, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, policy, and business development, to integrate research findings into strategic initiatives.
- Assist in the design and execution of research projects, including methodology development, data collection, and qualitative/quantitative analysis.
- Monitor global developments in technology, economics, and geopolitics, providing regular updates and insights to the team.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas to address complex challenges.
- Support senior researchers and strategists in developing thought leadership content and preparing for external engagements.
Required Skills
- Exceptional research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Proven ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and actionable insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing professional reports and presentations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python) and presentation software.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Political Science, Computer Science, Public Policy, or Business Administration.
- Demonstrated interest in technology, innovation, and their societal impact.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working in a think tank, research institution, consulting firm, or corporate strategy role.
- Familiarity with Google's products, services, and strategic initiatives.
- Experience with qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, collaborative team.
