Join Otis Elevator Company as an Elevator / Escalator Modernization Helper and become an integral part of our skilled team dedicated to updating and enhancing elevator and escalator systems. As a Helper, you will work closely with experienced mechanics, providing crucial support in the installation, dismantling, and reassembly of complex machinery during modernization projects. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist skilled mechanics in the demolition and removal of old elevator and escalator components.
  • Help with the installation of new equipment, including motors, cables, control panels, and structural elements.
  • Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites, ensuring proper handling and storage.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform general labor tasks as directed by the lead mechanic or supervisor.
  • Learn to identify various elevator/escalator components and understand their basic functions.
  • Support testing and adjustment procedures under direct supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and site personnel.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks consistently.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude or experience with hand and power tools.
  • Strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Reliable transportation to various job sites within the Santa Monica and greater Los Angeles area.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including heights and confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Prior experience in construction, manufacturing, or a related trade.
  • Vocational training or coursework in mechanical, electrical, or industrial fields.
  • Basic understanding of electrical or hydraulic systems.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
