Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated Federal Budget Analyst to join our esteemed think tank. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical policy discussions by conducting in-depth analysis of federal budget proposals, tax policies, and their implications for various socioeconomic groups. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of federal fiscal policy, economic principles, and excellent analytical and communication skills. You will work closely with senior researchers and policy experts to produce timely and accurate analyses that inform policymakers and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze federal budget proposals, appropriations, and tax legislation for their fiscal impact and policy implications.
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative research on federal spending, revenue, and debt.
- Prepare detailed reports, briefs, and presentations summarizing research findings for diverse audiences, including policymakers, media, and the public.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to federal fiscal policy.
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to forecast budget outcomes and policy impacts.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on interdisciplinary projects.
- Respond to data and analysis requests from media, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
- Present research findings at conferences, briefings, and public forums.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in federal budget analysis or fiscal policy research.
- Strong quantitative analysis skills, including proficiency with statistical software (e.g., Stata, R, SAS) or advanced Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Deep understanding of the federal budget process and U.S. fiscal policy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based policy research.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in a congressional office, government agency, or another non-profit think tank.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau).
- Track record of publishing research or policy analyses.
