Job Description
St Albans School is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Drama Teacher to join our thriving Arts department. The successful candidate will be passionate about drama and theatre, committed to fostering a love of the performing arts in our students, and capable of teaching across all age groups from Key Stage 3 to A-Level. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant school community and inspire the next generation of performers and theatre-makers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and challenging Drama lessons to students across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level.
- Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
- Contribute to the development of the Drama curriculum and departmental resources.
- Direct and produce school plays and theatrical productions, both within the curriculum and as extracurricular activities.
- Organise and lead theatre trips and workshops to enrich students' learning experiences.
- Participate in the wider life of the school, including pastoral duties and extracurricular clubs.
- Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment.
Required Skills
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theatre Studies, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Drama at Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-Level.
- Strong directorial and production skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant subject.
- Experience with a variety of theatrical styles and practitioners.
- Familiarity with independent school environments.
- First Aid qualification.
