Job Description
Are you passionate about mechanics and eager to learn the ropes in a dynamic, high-energy environment? California’s Great America is seeking a motivated and safety-focused individual to join our team as an Apprentice Amusement Park Ride Mechanic. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured apprenticeship program, learning all facets of ride maintenance and safety.
- Assist certified mechanics with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of park rides and attractions.
- Learn to identify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and contribute to troubleshooting efforts.
- Strictly adhere to all safety protocols, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free from hazards.
- Operate various hand and power tools safely and effectively under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding ride status and maintenance needs.
- Demonstrate a continuous willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.
Required Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in how things work.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to comprehend and follow detailed instructions and safety guidelines.
- Basic understanding of tools and their uses.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to precision.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, climb ladders, and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required by park operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or coursework in mechanics, electronics, or a related technical field.
- Previous experience in a hands-on mechanical or technical role (even as a hobby).
- A passion for amusement parks, rides, and delivering exceptional guest experiences.
