Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Auto Upholstery Tear-Out Laborer to join our Wimbledon team. In this entry-level role, you will be crucial in preparing vehicles for extensive repair and restoration work by meticulously removing interior components. This position is ideal for individuals who are hands-on, detail-oriented, and eager to learn the foundational aspects of vehicle repair and restoration. You will work closely with experienced technicians, ensuring that vehicles are stripped safely and efficiently, ready for the next stage of the repair process. This is a vital role that supports the overall quality and speed of our repair operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully and efficiently remove vehicle interior components, including seats, carpets, headliners, door panels, and trim, as per repair instructions.
- Utilize appropriate tools and techniques to prevent damage to salvageable parts or the vehicle's structural integrity.
- Organize and label removed parts for inventory, reinstallation, or disposal.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist senior technicians with various tasks as needed.
- Inspect vehicles for hidden damage during the tear-out process and report findings.
- Ensure all fasteners and small components are secured and accounted for.
- Dispose of waste materials responsibly.
- Follow all company policies and procedures regarding safety and quality control.
Required Skills
- Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures in a workshop setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labor role or workshop environment (not necessarily automotive).
- Familiarity with various car makes and models.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or interest in automotive repair.
- Valid UK driving license.
