Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Studio Recording Engineer to join our audio production team for night shifts. This role involves operating and maintaining top-tier recording equipment to capture pristine audio for a variety of projects, including film, television, and music. The ideal candidate will have a keen ear, a deep understanding of audio principles, and experience working in a fast-paced, high-demand studio environment. You will be instrumental in bringing our creative visions to life through exceptional sound quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain a wide range of state-of-the-art recording equipment, including consoles, microphones, preamps, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Set up, test, and troubleshoot audio systems for recording sessions, ensuring optimal performance and signal flow.
- Record, edit, and mix audio tracks according to project specifications and creative direction.
- Collaborate closely with producers, directors, musicians, and other creative personnel to achieve desired sonic outcomes.
- Implement best practices for audio signal processing, including equalization, compression, and effects.
- Maintain accurate records of session details, equipment usage, and project progress.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibration of studio equipment to ensure consistent quality and functionality.
- Adhere to strict deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
- Provide technical support during recording and post-production sessions.
- Ensure the studio environment is clean, organized, and ready for all scheduled sessions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency with industry-standard DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, or Nuendo.
- Expertise in studio microphone techniques and placement.
- Strong understanding of audio signal flow, acoustics, and psychoacoustics.
- Proven experience with large-format mixing consoles (analog and digital).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex audio issues quickly and effectively.
- Excellent critical listening skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for client and team collaboration.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Flexibility to work night shifts and extended hours as required by production schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
- Experience with advanced audio restoration and mastering techniques.
- Familiarity with various audio codecs and delivery specifications for broadcast and streaming.
- Previous experience in film or television post-production audio.
- Knowledge of network audio protocols (e.g., Dante, AVB).
- Portfolio demonstrating high-quality recording and mixing work.
