Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Remote Special Education Consultant to join our dynamic team. This WFH Advisory Role will involve providing expert guidance and support to educational institutions, educators, and families on best practices in special education. The successful candidate will leverage their deep understanding of special education methodologies, policy, and technology to develop inclusive learning environments and advocate for student needs. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your home office.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive remote consultation to school districts, administrators, teachers, and parents regarding special education services and programs.
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and other support strategies in line with provincial and federal guidelines.
- Conduct virtual assessments and data analysis to identify student needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Offer professional development and training workshops on various special education topics, including differentiated instruction, assistive technology, and behavioral interventions.
- Stay abreast of the latest research, policies, and best practices in special education and integrate them into advisory services.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure holistic support for students with special needs.
- Advocate for equitable access to education and resources for all students, particularly those with diverse learning profiles.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in special education, including direct teaching or consulting roles.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian special education policies, regulations, and funding models, particularly in Ontario.
- Proven ability to develop and deliver effective professional development sessions virtually.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong emphasis on remote client engagement.
- Proficiency in using various educational technologies and virtual collaboration tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in a relevant field.
- Experience with diverse student populations and multicultural contexts.
- Certifications in specific special education methodologies (e.g., ABA, Orton-Gillingham).
- Familiarity with Pearson's educational products and services.
