Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Inpatient Pharmacy Aide to join our night shift team. This critical role supports our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in delivering timely and accurate medication services directly to hospital wards. You will be responsible for ensuring the efficient distribution of pharmaceuticals, maintaining inventory, and contributing to a safe and effective patient care environment during overnight hours. This position is vital to our commitment to 24/7 patient support and requires a high degree of reliability and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, package, and label medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist or certified pharmacy technician.
- Deliver medications, supplies, and sterile products to various nursing units and departments throughout the hospital.
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving, unpacking, and stocking medications and supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of pharmacy work areas, equipment, and medication storage locations.
- Process expired medications for return or disposal according to established policies and procedures.
- Assist with the maintenance of medication dispensing equipment and automation.
- Respond to calls and requests from hospital staff regarding medication inquiries or deliveries.
- Document medication distribution activities accurately in designated systems.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to patient safety and confidentiality.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn pharmacy software systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, hospital environment.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work night shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or pharmacy setting.
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Current enrollment in a healthcare-related educational program.
