Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Rehabilitation Nurse with a strong focus on orthopedic recovery to join our dynamic team in Virginia Beach. This role is pivotal in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life following orthopedic injuries, surgeries, or conditions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical skills, a patient-centered approach, and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration to facilitate optimal recovery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient physical, psychological, and social status upon admission and throughout the rehabilitation process.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans, focusing on orthopedic recovery goals.
- Provide direct nursing care, including wound care, medication administration, and pain management, as per physician orders.
- Educate patients and their families on orthopedic conditions, rehabilitation exercises, medication regimens, and self-care techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with physical therapists, occupational therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Monitor patient progress, document observations accurately, and report changes in condition to the interdisciplinary team.
- Promote patient independence and functional mobility through adaptive techniques and equipment training.
- Participate in team meetings and discharge planning to ensure a smooth transition of care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including patient safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in rehabilitation nursing or acute orthopedic care.
- Strong knowledge of orthopedic conditions, post-surgical care, and rehabilitation principles.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment, care planning, and medication administration.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and challenging environment.
- BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) certification.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, preferably Epic.
- Previous experience in a dedicated orthopedic rehabilitation unit.
