Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and highly accurate Sheet Music Editor to join our remote team. This role is crucial for maintaining the exceptional quality and precision of our published sheet music. The ideal candidate will possess an unwavering attention to detail, a deep understanding of music theory and notation, and proficiency with music engraving software. As a WFH editor, you will be responsible for reviewing, correcting, and preparing sheet music for publication, ensuring it meets our rigorous standards for accuracy and readability. This is a 100% remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed proofreading and editing of sheet music for all instruments and genres.
- Verify accuracy of notes, rhythms, dynamics, articulations, lyrics, and other musical markings.
- Ensure consistent adherence to house style guides and industry best practices for music notation.
- Collaborate with composers, arrangers, and other editorial staff to resolve discrepancies and improve clarity.
- Utilize music engraving software (e.g., Finale, Sibelius, Dorico) to implement corrections and formatting adjustments.
- Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines with a high degree of precision.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of music notation software features and editorial standards.
Required Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Profound knowledge of music theory, harmony, and standard music notation practices.
- Proficiency in at least one major music engraving software (Finale, Sibelius, or Dorico).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music, Music Theory, Composition, or a related field.
- 2+ years of professional experience in sheet music editing or music publishing.
- Experience with various musical genres and instrumentations.
- Familiarity with digital asset management systems.
- Ability to read and understand scores in multiple languages (for lyrics/annotations).
