Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Carpet Fitting Offsider to join our professional fitting team in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for indoor manual work with a reputable company offering competitive pay. As an Offsider, you will play a crucial role in assisting our experienced carpet fitters, ensuring efficient and high-quality installations. This physically demanding role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to learning new skills within the flooring industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead carpet fitters with the transportation and laying of various types of flooring.
- Prepare work sites by clearing furniture, removing old flooring, and ensuring surfaces are ready for installation.
- Cut and lay underlay, grippers, and door bars according to specifications.
- Handle and cut carpet, vinyl, and other flooring materials accurately and safely.
- Maintain a clean and organised work environment, including tidying up after job completion.
- Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on site.
- Communicate effectively with fitters, customers, and other team members.
- Learn and develop new fitting techniques and product knowledge.

- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials regularly.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar manual labour or construction role.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools.
- Full UK driving license.
- CSCS card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) is a plus, but not essential.
