Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and compassionate individual for a combined Clinical Area Housekeeper & Porter role at our state-of-the-art facility in Titanic Quarter, Belfast. This pivotal position ensures the cleanliness, hygiene, and safe movement of patients and equipment within our clinical environments, playing a direct role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness in all clinical and non-clinical areas, as well as providing efficient portering services, ensuring a smooth and supportive operation for both patients and medical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks across clinical areas, including patient rooms, operating theatres, waiting areas, and offices, adhering strictly to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting any faults.
  • Manage and dispose of waste in accordance with hospital protocols, including clinical and domestic waste.
  • Transport patients safely and comfortably between departments using wheelchairs, beds, or trolleys.
  • Relocate medical equipment, supplies, specimens, and patient notes as required, ensuring timely and secure delivery.
  • Maintain stock levels of cleaning supplies and linen, reporting shortages to management.
  • Respond promptly to requests for cleaning or portering services from clinical staff.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and hospital policies.
  • Provide compassionate and respectful interaction with patients and visitors at all times.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift and move patients/equipment safely.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Understanding of health and safety guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
  • Basic First Aid certification.
