Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and diligent Private Lab Specimen Porter to join our dedicated team at our bustling high street location in Guildford. This crucial role involves the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of medical specimens within our facility and to designated external laboratories. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and securely transport medical specimens (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) between collection points, processing areas, and designated external laboratories.
- Adhere strictly to all established protocols for specimen handling, chain of custody, and infection control.
- Maintain accurate records of specimen movements, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
- Operate laboratory equipment and vehicles (if required and licensed) in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of transportation equipment.
- Communicate effectively with laboratory staff, couriers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Promptly report any anomalies, damaged specimens, or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations and data protection guidelines.

- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina, capable of lifting and moving moderate loads and standing/walking for extended periods.

- Previous experience in a logistics, portering, or healthcare support role (not essential as full training will be provided).
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines related to specimen handling.
- A valid UK driving license (if required for specific routes, not always necessary for on-site high street roles).
