Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking Soft Fruit Pickers to join our seasonal team in Penzance, Cornwall. This is a high-demand role perfect for individuals seeking seasonal employment, and it may be eligible for seasonal worker visas. You will be responsible for the careful harvesting of various soft fruits, ensuring quality and efficiency. This role is crucial to our operations, directly impacting the freshness and availability of our produce.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pick and harvest soft fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.) according to quality standards.
- Inspect fruit for ripeness, damage, and disease, discarding substandard produce.
- Pack harvested fruit into punnets or trays as instructed, ensuring correct weight and presentation.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area, adhering to all health and safety guidelines.
- Work efficiently to meet daily picking targets.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding fruit quality and picking progress.
- Adhere to all farm policies and procedures, including those related to food safety and hygiene.
Required Skills
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, sun, cold).
- Good hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Physical fitness, including ability to bend, stoop, lift light loads, and stand for long hours.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Reliable and punctual work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural work or fruit picking is a plus, but not essential.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
