Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Procurement / Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team in Whitehorse, Yukon. This critical role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our procurement and purchasing activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services across our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, vendor negotiation, and a proven ability to implement best practices. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to achieve cost savings and efficiency targets.
  • Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from requisition to payment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor supplier performance, conducting regular reviews and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Lead initiatives for inventory optimization, supply chain risk management, and sustainability in procurement.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, market trends, and cost analysis.
  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with local and international regulations and ethical standards.
  • Collaborate with finance, operations, and project teams to forecast needs and ensure seamless supply.
  • Mentor and develop junior procurement staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and vendor management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CSCMP, C.P.M., CPSM).
  • Experience working in a global or multi-national organization.
  • Familiarity with the unique logistical challenges of northern regions.
  • Multilingual abilities.
