Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Procurement / Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team in Whitehorse, Yukon. This critical role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of our procurement and purchasing activities, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services across our operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supply chain management, vendor negotiation, and a proven ability to implement best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to achieve cost savings and efficiency targets.
- Manage the end-to-end purchasing process, from requisition to payment, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor supplier performance, conducting regular reviews and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Lead initiatives for inventory optimization, supply chain risk management, and sustainability in procurement.
- Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, market trends, and cost analysis.
- Ensure all purchasing activities comply with local and international regulations and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, and project teams to forecast needs and ensure seamless supply.
- Mentor and develop junior procurement staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management.
- Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and vendor management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CSCMP, C.P.M., CPSM).
- Experience working in a global or multi-national organization.
- Familiarity with the unique logistical challenges of northern regions.
