Job Description
As a Mail Order Pharmacy Technician at OptumRx, you will play a crucial role in our fast-paced mail order pharmacy operations. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, efficient processing of prescriptions, and a strong commitment to patient safety and satisfaction, all within a climate-controlled, indoor environment. You will be responsible for preparing, dispensing, and packaging medications for shipment directly to patients, ensuring accuracy and adherence to all regulatory guidelines. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret and process prescription orders in a high-volume, mail order environment.
- Prepare and package medications for shipment, ensuring correct labeling and secure packaging.
- Utilize automated dispensing equipment and pharmacy software systems efficiently.
- Maintain inventory control by tracking stock levels, receiving shipments, and organizing medications.
- Collaborate with pharmacists to resolve prescription issues and ensure patient safety.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and company regulations, including HIPAA and controlled substance protocols.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries as needed, though primarily an indoor, non-patient-facing role.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA.
- Active California State Board of Pharmacy Technician license.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Pharmacy Technician, preferably in a mail order or high-volume retail setting.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with automated dispensing systems.
- Experience in a large-scale mail order pharmacy operation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Familiarity with inventory management best practices.
