Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Civil Service Typist / Word Processor to join our administrative team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start their career in the public sector, offering a fantastic opportunity to develop key administrative skills within a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Type, format, and edit a variety of documents, reports, letters, and other materials using word processing software.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established departmental style guides and standards.
  • Manage and organize electronic and physical files, maintaining strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Proofread documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and typographical errors.
  • Assist with data entry tasks and maintain databases as required.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and physical mail.
  • Provide general administrative support to team members and departments.
  • Operate standard office equipment such as photocopiers, scanners, and printers.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent typing speed and accuracy.
  • Strong command of the English language, including grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
