Job Description
We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Surface Chemist with a strong focus on nanotechnology to join our advanced materials research team in New Port Richey, Florida. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge projects within a state-of-the-art laboratory environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, synthesizing, and characterizing novel materials at the nanoscale, with a particular emphasis on surface modification, thin films, and interfacial phenomena. You will play a crucial role in developing next-generation materials for a variety of applications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring concepts from research to reality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments for the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials and surface coatings.
- Utilize advanced analytical techniques such as SEM, TEM, AFM, XPS, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy for surface and material characterization.
- Develop and optimize surface modification strategies for enhanced material performance, including adhesion, corrosion resistance, and catalytic activity.
- Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports and presentations.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists from various disciplines to integrate nanomaterials into new product designs and existing systems.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, follow strict safety protocols, and contribute to a safe and efficient lab environment.
- Stay abreast of new scientific literature, technologies, and industry trends in surface chemistry and nanotechnology.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on surface chemistry or nanotechnology.
- Minimum of 4 years of industrial or postdoctoral experience in surface science, thin films, or nanomaterials synthesis and characterization.
- Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from surface analytical techniques (e.g., XPS, AFM, SEM/TEM with EDX).
- Demonstrated experience in surface modification techniques (e.g., sol-gel, CVD, PVD, SAMs).
- Strong understanding of colloid and interface science principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented research and development environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cleanroom protocols and microfabrication techniques.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry and polymer surface modification.
- Familiarity with computational tools for material simulation (e.g., DFT, molecular dynamics).
- Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at scientific conferences.
- Experience with intellectual property development and patent applications.
