Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Materials Engineer to join our innovative team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This role is crucial for developing, testing, and implementing advanced materials solutions for various defense and aerospace applications. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development on new materials and processes to meet specific project requirements.
- Perform material characterization using various analytical techniques (e.g., SEM, XRD, mechanical testing).
- Analyze material failures and provide root cause analysis, recommending corrective actions.
- Select appropriate materials for design applications, considering environmental, mechanical, and cost factors.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for material fabrication and integration.
- Collaborate with suppliers and external partners on material procurement and technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation of findings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal quality procedures.
- Support project teams with materials expertise throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in materials engineering, preferably in an aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in material characterization techniques (e.g., spectroscopy, microscopy, mechanical testing).
- Strong understanding of material properties, processing, and degradation mechanisms.
- Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, interdisciplinary environment.
- Eligibility to work in Canada, or ability to obtain necessary work permits for international applicants.
Preferred Qualifications
